Just Blame Rock N Roll.

Most people that start a venue have the biggest challenge of trying to find the space to host it in, but from the start we were lucky enough to not have that problem. In a more retroactive way, the founding local artists (HHP) had already been operating and slowly jumping to larger studio space every few years. Early on, as poster artists they began collaborating with the locally known band, Stone & Snow, making merch together and as that friendship grew, so did the idea to develop a larger concept from the regular intimate house & living-room shows. What came in early 2018 was the plans and repurposing of the walk-in gallery space / retail shop that also doubled as the studio that HH worked out of on 105 W. Jefferson, on the Square in downtown Bloomington.

Gig-Poster and Rock Music art already set the backdrop for the show perfectly, and the founders at HH already knew plenty of bands that were both touring and looking for places to play. Karen and Clint from S&S were crucial in setting up the early shows for bands, booking, promoting, and in turn the art studio would develop the marketing graphics and one TOTALLY unique item for every show. To be conscious to the connection of music & art together, most Hallowed Hall shows have included a free 12"x18" silkscreen printed gig-poster included with your ticket since the start. Keeping that tradition alive and using the energy of the creative space + people around it is what helps guide what shows we book and we book them with.

In 2020 during the pandemic, we were forced to close the doors of Hallowed Hall, and in the interim, the artist studio moved to a new space downtown but off the main square. Unfortunately the new space had all the character but needed a lot of love, so slowly but surely HHP built up the retail space, new gallery, and finally the stage over the span of the last 5 years. Currently hosted in the historic 7-Story Johnson Building by the downtown overpass, this rich building flaunts 100+ Years and a beautiful, rustic interior. The Hallowed Hall is settled on the 1st Floor where we have a lounge to hang out in the walk-in gallery, ready with a full house PA and secretly has been in use for many private events, video-shoots, and band practices. We feel it's finally time to open it back up as a convergence point for our local creative community and it's ready to receive whatever wild times we can imagine for it. If you're a band, group, organization, lover of old buildings, whatever, come on down and visit us during the week day and see for yourself.
